Implementation of POOSL in Hardware

| Software/Hardware Engineering (SHE) is a new object-oriented method for the co-speciication and design of complex reactive hard-ware/software systems. SHE incorporates a framework for design activities, and a formal description language called POOSL (Parallel Object-Oriented Speciication Language). Starting from informal object-oriented analysis, SHE produces rigorous system-level behaviour and architecture descriptions expressed in the POOSL language. This paper describes a rst exploration of the path from a speciication in POOSL towards an implementation in hardware. As we will mainly focus on the communication between process objects, some restrictions are applied to the POOSL model. Only FSM-like descriptions are allowed and the data part of POOSL will be left out. A scheduler will be implemented in hardware to handle process communication .
